When the SpongeBob 400 Sprint Cup race concludes at the Kansas Speedway, the winner will be awarded a trophy created by world-renowned artist KAWS. Commissioned by Nickelodeon to re-imagine SpongeBob SquarePants in an avant-garde style, the artist’s “KawsBob” character will appear on the race trophy and the mural spanning the track’s backstretch. “The SpongeBob 400 Sprint Cup presented a unique opportunity to bring KawsBob to life in a big way. I’m excited to reinterpret this iconic character in several different ways throughout the race and share my appreciation of SpongeBob with NASCAR fans,” said KAWS about the peculiar collaboration. Additionally, SpongeBob will appear on the paint schemes of five NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers’ cars.
